It is quite an interesting fact that the basilica ‘Saint Nikolay’ is going to be the second temple in Plovdiv dedicated to Nikolaos the Wonderworker of Myra, which is unusual, since Plovdiv as not located on the sea coast.
This turns Plovdiv into the only city in Bulgaria (and maybe even on international basis) that is home to two temples who celebrate the glory of this Saint. ‘Saint Nikolay’ is also the only contemporary church in Plovdiv that is built entirely in Russian style.
